A division bench of Lahore High Court on Tuesday restrained the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) from allegedly harassing employees of Ramzan Sugar Mills, believed to be owned by Sharif family. Bench also sought a reply from the NAB till November 13 about inquiry against the mills. Bench sought reply from the NAB on the legality of the impugned inquiry and restrained it from extending any harassment to the Ramzan sugar mills’ employees. Bench issued the direction on a petition moved by the administrator of the sugar mills. Petitioner cpimse; submitted that the NAB initiated an inquiry against environmental pollution allegedly being caused by the mills. Counsel alleged that the NAB was causing harassment to the employees even when it had no jurisdiction to hold inquiry on a matter relating to environmental pollution. He requested to set aside the inquiry initiated by the NAB against the sugar mills for being without lawful authority and also to restrain it from harassing the employees of the mills.
