LAHORE: Lahore police have registered 11 FIRs against Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) chief Khadim Hussain Rizvi, senior leader Pir Afzal Qadri and 500 other people for in different police stations for rioting, disrupting peace and damaging public properties during protests against acquittal of Aasia Bibi. Similarly, the Islamabad police also registered two FIRs against over 100 unknown protesters for rioting peace and damaging public properties and violation of Section 144 during protest demonstrations by TLP. The central leaders of the TLP Khadim Hussain Rizvi, Pir Afzal Qadri, Zaheerul Hasan, Allam Farooqul Hasan and others were booked in under different sections including Section 144, 16MPO, ATA, sedition, riots and other laws. After the Supreme Court (SC) passed a verdict that acquitted Asia Bibi from the blasphemy charges against her, TLP announced to protest against the decision. During the three-day protest across the country, a number of vehicles and properties were destroyed. Main intersections and roads were also blocked in major cities, resulting in severe mobility issues for people. Several thousand demonstrators from multiple religious parties held separate protests in major cities and gathered near government offices in all over the country. The protests resulted in the suspension of mobile services in major cities across Pakistan, apart from Karachi till Friday.
