KARACHI: Ghulam Murtaza Baloch, Special Assistant to CM Sindh for Katchi Abadis said that democracy is the best revenge against dictatorship. Our leadership has proved it and we will continue this mission in a democratic way. While talking to Daily Times he said that after taking the charge of Special Assistant to CM Sindh for Katchi Abadis, doing utmost to make the things easier and convenient for the people, surveys are being conducted in kachiabadis yet 250 kachiabais have been regularized and we are working on 100 katchi abadis to be regularized by providing them basic amenities, including road infrastructure, all over Sindh to improve quality of life of its residents. Responding to a question he said there are 1,409 katchi abadis of which 948 were notified, 344 not notified, 117 are established on federal government land which had notified only 30 katchi abadis while joint demarcation of 227 abadis had been carried out so far. However, as the city is short of its housing requirements, the migrants make their way to katchi abadis or rural neighborhoods, he added We have seen many ups and downs. Now we have been able to provide development and tenure security to a large number of katchi abadis as all the development work is funded by the lease money that the residents pay. Even the overhead expenses are met from the lease charges. While talking about his leadership he said that Bhutto gave the nation identity and brought about a revolution in the real sense of the word. He introduced the one man, one vote principle. “After Mohammad Ali Jinnah, Bhutto was the leader who became a powerful voice of the voiceless poor,” Baloch said . “Malir is an agricultural area and to develop it as an agricultural place for that support can be made for the betterment it must be given to Malir” he demanded.
