LARKANA: The North Sindh Urban Services Corporation (NSUSC) has stopped its sanitation operation in Larkana and Shikarpur from Jan 31, rendering 240 workers jobless. The North Sindh Urban Services Corporation (NSUSC) has been engaged in sanitation work in Larkana, Shikarpur, Sukkur, Rohri, and Khairpur since 2010. The NSUSC – working as an NGO – had received funds worth millions of rupees from the Asian Development Bank. However, it had completely failed to meet the assigned task of cleaning due to which the former CM as well as the existing chief minister, Murad Ali Shah, criticised its performance. The Larkana Municipal Corporation (LMC) also placed its 300 sanitation staff at the disposal of NSUSC but this could not improve its services. Meanwhile, NSUSC Managing Director Syed Mahmood Abbas Shah issued a notification terminating the agreement with NSUSC in Larkana and Shikarpur. Now the Larkana Municipal Corporation will be responsible for sanitation in Larkana and Shikarpur.
