The Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA), on Thursday, launched awareness sessions with the children of Walled City Lahore to engage them in ‘Clean Pakistan Green Pakistan’ campaign. The first session was held at the Delhi gate inside the Walled City. The purpose of these sessions is to educate and actively engage the youth in raising awareness about the importance of keeping heritage sites clean and litter-free. During the first session, the students gave their ideas and input for the slogan of the Clean Pakistan Green Pakistan campaign. The children also made posters showing how to keep our country clean with taglines: ‘Hoga Saaf Pakistan’ and ‘Clean Green Pakistan’. WCLA is aggressively working on cleanliness in the Walled City of Lahore. WCLA’s solid waste management is aggressively working to keep the site clean while its tourist guides are distributing flyers to emphasize on keeping heritage sites clean. WCLA has engaged more than 100 students in this awareness campaign as children are ‘‘change agents’’ and have the ability to influence their family and neighbourhood to keep their surroundings clean. During these awareness sessions, the students will engage in walks, developing taglines and posters and giving speeches on the importance of cleanliness. Director Marketing and Social Mobilisation, Asif Zaheer, said, “WCLA is taking all measures to support the ‘Clean Pakistan Green Pakistan’ campaign launched by the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan. We have now engaged children, the future generation, in raising cleanliness awareness in the Walled City Lahore. These sessions will be conducted on a regular basis as a clean today will lead to a better tomorrow”. Published in Daily Times, October 19th 2018.
