HYDERABAD: On an invitation to Radio Pakistan Hyderabad, I saw a little boy performing classical song for radio program, I was shocked at the style he was singing classical tunes. My interest led me to know more about his keen interest in music in this digital era. The 8-years-old Izat Ali Khan, cute with the overload smartness, is a primary school student and is taking musical classes from last 9 months from his father renowned, pride of Pakistan and Sitara-e-Imtiaz award winning singer Ustad Fateh Ali Khan. When asked to Izat Ali Khan, he expressed “It was my dream to follow the foot prints of my father and to do something unique rather to follow the temporary trends and modern pop music.” Khan told Daily Times that it is not far away that he will become the identification for classical music, “I am making myself stronger to sing at the stage of Lateef Sirkar,” he added. He said “To preserve the heritage of classical music my target is to compose melodious classical tunes with outstanding command over sur.” “In Sindh even in Pakistan there is no proper channel available for the people to exhibit their talent. Government should launch series of measurement to tackle barriers in the way of progress,” he concluded.
