Scores of tribesmen of Ali Masjid locality and its adjoining region in Jamrud staged a demonstration in front of the Jamrud press club on Tuesday against an alleged unlawful detention of their relatives by officials of the Khasadar force over unknown reasons. Reportedly, protesters including Zahoor Afridi, Ijaz Afridi and Shahid Afridi chanted full-throat slogans against the Khasadar force while holding banners and placards inscribed with their demands. They told the media that on September 21, officers apprehended 35 tribesmen, and most of them were daily wagers and transporters. Furthermore, they revealed that they had contacted Jamrud administration officials but they expressed ignorance about the incident. “They should produce detainees before the court according to the constitution of Pakistan, and let the court decide if they had committed any crime,” they added. They further warned that if they were not produced before the court, tribesmen would launch protests for an indefinite period of time. Published in Daily Times, October 3rd 2018.
