The Bureau of Students Tutorial, Counseling Co-curricular and Guidance Services (STAGS) of the University of Sindh (SU) on Tuesday initiated an orientation workshop entitled “Global UGRAD” for guiding students about scholarships at the Shaikh Ayaz Auditorium in the faculty of arts of the varsity in Jamshoro. Reportedly, the workshop aims to acknowledge aspirant applicants of a global undergraduate programme of the varsity for availing opportunities of United States-funded scholarships. The workshop is categorised into four features including significance of Global UGRAD, process for its application, guidance on writing a statement of purpose and the SU-based UGRAD alumni panel discussion where alumni would share their experience during their stay in US for counselling students. Prof Dr Razaque Channa, Dr Waheeda, Exchange Ambassador Hima Zafar and about six UGRAD alumni will be included in the panel discussion. Meanwhile, STAGS Director Dr Sumeera Umrani expressed her views and said that competitive students were being acknowledged for their outstanding efforts and hard work at international level for the first time in the history of the varsity. She further stated that the varsity aimed to encourage and uplift others student as well for taking part in such activities. It has also been learnt that six students from the varsity have been selected for the UGRAD batch of 2018-19, from different academic backgrounds including business administration, information technology, media and communication studies, public administration, and computer science.
