The Punjab University College of Information & Technology (PUCIT) Environment Society has initiated a twice-a-month Clean Campus Day initiative. On the inaugural event on Sunday, several students, teachers and PUCIT Principal Dr Syed Mansoor Sarwar cleaned the new campus of the college. This movement has been dovetailed with PUCIT’s annual tree plantation programme that started in 2016. Eesha Aftab and Fulbright scholars Dr Mahvish Poshni, Dr Syed Muhammad Ali, the teacher coordinators of the society, energised the student body for starting this regular voluntary activity. Dr Syed Mansoor Sarwar said that the purpose of these activities is to provide a sustainable, healthy and clean ecosystem in the college as well as inculcate a sense of responsibility among them. “We want our student body to also understand the importance of the sustainability of bio ecology that attracts all kind of bird species, squirrels, etc round the year and also develop a sense of volunteerism and compassion for the lowly-paid sweepers and gardeners who work so hard so we could live comfortably,” he added.
