Sir: Quetta’s Nargis has become the first Pakistani to win a medal in Karate at the Asian Games, after defeating Nepal’s Rita Karki in Indonesia on Saturday. This incredible athlete hails from Quetta’s persecuted Hazara community and the 19-year-old is following in the footsteps of Kulsoom Hazara who won the South Asian Championships earlier. Nargis, who had come back empty-handed from the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games held in Baku, Azerbaijan in 2016, has now returned with a bronze medal from the recent 18th Asian Games held in Jakarta, Indonesia. The achievement of the young talented girl needs our appreciation, since she fought against her failure and proved that there is always something waiting for those who never give up and continue searching for new opportunities in order to fulfil your dreams. I am really excited to congratulate her for the achievement and I believe that this achievement does not only belong to her, but also for those who never give up.
