ISLAMABAD: Foreign Office Director General (SA & SAARC) Dr Mohammad Faisal, invited the Indian deputy high commissioner and denounced the recent ceasefire violation resulting in the martyrdom of a labourer named Ashfaq. The Foreign Office official criticised the deliberate targeting of civilians by Indian border force, and labelled it as a crime as well as a violation of the international human rights and humanitarian laws. He urged the Indian security forces to respect the 2003 Ceasefire Agreement and to investigate the matter and past incidents regarding ceasefire violations. He also asked the Indian authorities to instruct the Indian forces to respect the ceasefire agreement, in letter and spirit, and stop targeting the villages and innocent civilians to maintain peace and serenity on the Line of Control.
