The Pakistan Anti-Corruption and Anti-Narcotics (PACAN) on Wednesday organised an awareness session to educate youths and students of tribal region about the grave consequences of use of drugs. Reportedly, a significant number of youths have been addicted to ice drug (crystal meth). Meanwhile, scores of tribesmen gathered in the Jirga Hall in Landi Kotal and expressed profound concerns over the increased use of drugs by youths. They appealed to the district administration to take effective measures for launching a crackdown on the ice drug in Landi Kotal. Landi Kotal Assistant Commissioner (AC) Niaz Muhammad participated as the chief guest while PACAN Chairman Sheraz Gauhar, PACAN Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) district member Pir Saifullah Saif were the guests of honour in the event. In his address on the occasion, the AC said that the administration had launched a massive crackdown against narcotics in the region and more than a dozen ice drug sellers were arrested. He appealed to tribesmen to inform administration about any drug-related activity in their respective areas. Earlier, PACAN Chairman Sheraz Gauhar lauded efforts of participants for supporting the organisation against drug-related activities. He urged them for a collective effort to wipe out the scourge of meth for saving future of youths. Malik Darya Khan Afridi, Malik Tajuddin Haji Banaras Khan and a journalist Khalil Jibran also spoke on the occasion. The tribal elders also signed a document calling for implementation of drugs prohibition in the region. Later, PACAN Chairman awarded Landi Kotal Line Officer Tika Khan Afridi for his outstanding performance in the crackdown against ice drug in Landi Kotal. Besides, a large number of tribal elders, administrative officials, clerics, representatives of various welfare organisations and members of civil society also participated in the event.
