Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday welcomed the formation of a parliamentary commission to probe alleged rigging in July 25 polls. Talking to the media in Islamabad, the PPP chairman said: “Our demand was that the opposition should have the chairmanship of the committee, adding that the PTI government should have accepted opposition’s demand if it had no fears. Bilawal went on to say that the grand opposition would devise a strategy if the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led government tried to ignore rigging. In a statement, Shehbaz said that the commission’s terms of references (ToRs) and time frame for the probe would be finalised. He expressed hope that things would move forward and the National Assembly proceedings too would move ahead without wasting time. Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi tabled a motion during the NA session earlier in the day to form the commission. Published in Daily Times, September 19th 2018.
