The Supreme Court on Friday rejected Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Sharjeel Memon’s bail plea in a graft reference filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). As the hearing went underway, the court asked about the whereabouts of Memon to which a NAB prosecutor said he (Memon) had been hospitalised from May. The prosecutor further informed the court that according to the report of a private hospital, Sharjeel was not suffering from any serious disease and that he was suggested physiotherapy. The court then rejected PPP leader Sharjeel Memon’s plea. The former Sindh minister along with other suspects is accused of corruption worth Rs 5.76 billion in the award of advertisements to the electronic media. The other accused in the case include bureaucrats, officials of the Information Department and members of private advertising agencies. Memon claims the charges against him are politically motivated.
