Forklore is a cleverly coined name for a food premises. The other thing that strikes your fancy is the choice of place the restaurant is nestled in. breaking away from stereotype hub of food places like Mall 94, DHA Y Block or even Packages Mall, the owners decided to give their clientele a breathing and a ‘parking space’ by choosing the Pavilion, rubbing shoulders with The Card Shop. The exterior is plain and simple, with homely inside premises too. I wonder if the owners were thinking about people eat with their eyes when they went for the architecture of it. However, it is indeed the food that would rake in revenue, so here’s a rundown of the menu items Forklore offers. I tried their Cream of Mushroom soup priced at Rs 250 single serving. This would definitely not be one of the strengths of their menu and I would give it a pass the next time. Perhaps a little more of creaminess would have done it for an item called Cream of Mushroom. Let’s see if Forklore will survive a beast of a market heavily saturated with food giants or will simply fizzle out I ordered their Mozzarella Cheese Sticks next to have as a Starter. These were served with a tangy sauce and were priced at Rs 450. This is an item which is best served hot in order to prevent the cheese from becoming sticky but even though they did serve it moderately hot, the cheese still came out a big too gooey than it should. Having said that, I believe the restaurant will muster in a lot of clientele in the upcoming winter months as their Seafood is definitely something I might go back for. Recommended by the chef himself, I tried their Baked Mediterranean Fish which was served with sautéed vegetables and potatoes. It was priced at Rs 1,050. The fish fillet was well done, and the sauce added a rich flavour to the mouth. The fillet felt light and feathery in my mouth exactly how baked items must taste like. But I would say I would’ve enjoyed my meal more if the vegetables were crispy and fresh. Another item that I ordered was the Tarragon Chicken priced at Rs 695. As much as I liked the Chicken Breast piece, the creamy tarragon sauce did not come out right. It was inappropriately tangy and filled with large helpings of mushroom. I would also recommend the chefs to work more on their pizzas as neither of the five thin crust that I tasted were appetising or rich in flavour. In fact, it appeared burnt in some corners with the toppings coming across as unattractive and carelessly placed. People indeed, eat with their eyes and this should be taken care of in the kitchen! Forklore’s Classic Beef Burger that I tried in chicken instead was really well done. It was soft, juicy and the fries and coleslaw added to the burger’s taste. Priced at Rs 650, this another item of theirs after their seafood which I recommend to all and would go back for. The Nutella Brownie priced at Rs 250 was hard and not sweet enough. As it is for any new restaurant, the taste develops over time. Let’s see if Forklore will survive a beast of a market heavily saturated with food giants or will simply fizzle out.
