Islamabad: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Thursday said it was a great moral victory of the whole Muslim Ummah that the Dutch anti-Islam damned lawmaker negated plans to hold a competition of blasphemous cartoons. Qureshi addressed a press conference along with the leadership of the Tehreek Labaik Pir (TLP) Afzal Qadri on Thursday night. Later, the TLP leadership ended of long March, of thousands of people that entered Rawalpindi late night on Thursday from Lahore. FM Qureshi stated the new government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) right away after coming into power drew attention to the issue internationally at all forums. He further said the Parliament with one accord passed a resolution criticising the plans to hold the sacrilegious cartoon competition. He also said the minority members were leading the condemning of this dreadful act. Qureshi also talked about his phone call to the Dutch Foreign Minister and said he was told that an act of a person should not be allowed to wound the sentiments of the Muslims community across the world. Nonetheless, he credited the success to the blessings of Allah and said the termination of the contest has turned away a huge crisis. He said the Pakistani government completely supports the sentiments of every Muslim, the religious scholars and Ulema. Previously, Prime Minister Imran Khan in a video message assured that his government would use the OIC platform to raise the matter at the United Nations and look for a permanent solution to blasphemous acts.
