Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari paid a rich tribute to renowned leprosy fighter Dr Ruth Katherina Martha Pfau, popularly known as Dr Ruth Pfau, on her first death anniversary on Friday. In his message, the PPP chairman said that Dr Ruth Pfau served the humanity and fought dedicatedly against leprosy for over fifty years. Bilawal stated in his tribute that the services Dr Ruth Pfau rendered were crucial in making Pakistan a ‘leprosy free’ country in 1996, as declared by the World Health Organisation (WHO). Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that people of Pakistan would remember the services of Dr Ruth Pfau for ages for the eradication of leprosy from the country. The first death anniversary of Dr Ruth Pfau was observed with reverence in the metropolis. Citizens commemorated Pfau by lighting candles and showering rose petals on her grave in ‘Gora Qabristan’.
