As usual Karachi once again is passionate to celebrate the upcoming 71st Independence Day with zeal and fervour. For the purpose, most of the governmental buildings have been festooned with decorative lights and national flags. Bazaars are also brimming with shoppers buying national flags, buntings, bangles, badges and clothes emblazoned with the national flag. Scores of vendors have also set up roadside stalls in every selling national flags and buntings in every nook and corner of the port city to make small fortunes ahead of Independence Day Talking to Daily Times, Sultan ul Arifeen, a shopper said, “It is our Independence Day and all of must celebrate it full zeal and fervour.” Another resident of Karachi, Qasim Palna Shekhawahti, said: “Every year on August 14, I visit the mausoleum of Quaid to pay tribute to the founder of Pakistan.” On the other hand, the Karachi Arts Council has planned concerts, debates and fun-filled activities scheduled for August 13 and 14.
