KARACHI: The race is on but the road to Sindh Chief Minister’s Office is getting bumpy for both Faryal Talpur and Murad Ali Shah, the newly elected MPAs of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) in Sindh. The former is allegedly involved in a money laundering case, while the latter, according to sources, is likely to be suspected in a NAB case. Also the PPP leadership, except party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, seems perplexed to tout Shah as the Sindh chief minister. It has been learnt reliably that Faryal, sister of former president Asif Ali Zardari, is now out of race, giving advantage to Shah to become the chief minister again. Sources say that Faryal may be appointed a provincial minister. Moreover, the PPP women wing has put forward Faryal’s name for the Sindh Assembly speaker. However, a handful of PPP leaders still want Faryal to be named for the top slot. When contacted, a spokesperson for the PPP said it would be too early to confirm the name for CM’s candidate in Sindh. Political pundits say that Shah is likely to become the chief minister as PPP doesn’t have any other “suitable” candidate. They, however, said that Bilawal would have a final say in this regard.
