Sir: Once again, an innocent young man has been falsely accused of blasphemy and brutally silenced forever. This time it was Qutub Rind. He was a talented artist and a student at National College of Arts (NCA). However, he was originally from Jacobabad. Like Mashal Khan, another talented youth who was killed on trumped up blasphemy charges, Qutub’s last moments must have been incredibly painful and terrifying. His arms and legs were broken by his assailants, and he was thrown to his death from the roof of a building. When the police investigated the matter, they found no evidence that blasphemy had been committed. They have discovered that Qutub’s assailants actually killed him over a disagreement about rent payment. This is the state of our society today. Hard working young people who have something to offer this country are accused of blasphemy and murdered with impunity. Meanwhile, revolting individualslike the Tehreek-e-Labbaik’s Khadim Hussain Rizvi are given political careers on a silver platter for inciting people to murder. How have we fallen so low?
