KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday ordered the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to withhold Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Faisal Vawda’s notification after his victory in NA-249 during the General Elections 2018 that were held on July 25. The directives were issued after Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif challenged the result of NA-249 by submitting a petition to the SHC, claiming that massive irregularities led to a PTI win. Vawda was victorious with 35,344 votes while Shehbaz Sharif got 34,626 votes. This order by SHC signals that it approved Shehbaz’s request for an urgent hearing. On Sunday, the PML-N president also requested a recount in NA-249 to the ECP.
