The Sindh High Court on Monday heard a plea to shift Naqeebullah murder case to another court from an anti-terrorism court (ATC). As the hearing went underway, counsel for the aggrieved party Faisal Siddiqui said that ATC had approved bail of former Malir SSP Rao Anwar despite the case was under trial. He pleaded the SHC to shift the case to another court from ATC, as his client was not satisfied with “performance” in the case. SHC adjourned the case until August 20 after issuing notices to Home Ministry, prosecutor general and Rao Anwar. Earlier, father of Naqeebullah Mehsud had filed a plea seeking transfer of case of extra judicial killing of his son after showing no confidence over the judge of anti-terrorism court. Father of Naqeebullah by expressing dissatisfaction over judge of ATC said that from the very first day his pleas had not been heard in the case. On July 20, an anti-terrorism court approved former Rao Anwar’s bail plea in a case involving possession of explosives and illegal weapons. On July 10, ATC granted bail to former Rao Anwar. The former Malir SSP was directed to pay Rs 1 million in bail bonds. Published in Daily Times, August 7th 2018.
