The greenback closed flat in value against the rupee in the interbank while gained value in open market, treasurers and currency dealers said. It started the day’s trading at Rs 123.90 for buying and closed at same level for buying and Rs 124.10 for selling in interbank. The euro witnessed dull trend against rupee as it closed at Rs 143.35 for buying after shedding 32 paisas and at Rs 143.55 for selling. The pound sterling remained depressed against domestic currency as it initiated the day’s trading at Rs 161.53 for buying and closed at Rs 160.98 for buying and Rs 164.18 for selling after shedding 55 paisas. Open market: The dollar remained firm against the rupee, dealers said. It started the day’s trading at Rs 122 for buying and closed at Rs 122.50 for buying after 50 paisas upward variation in value and stood at Rs 122.70 for selling. The euro remained flat versus the rupee as it started day’s trading at Rs 137 for buying and with no change in value it closed at Rs 137 for buying and at Rs 137.20 for selling. The pound remained firm against the rupee as it started the day’s trading at Rs 153 for buying, closed up by 25 paisas in value for buying and closed at Rs 153.45 for selling.
