Sir: Following the recent general elections, many suspicious discoveries have been made in Karachi. Firstly, though the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) managed to secure most of Karachi’s seats, a strange pattern has been discovered. In constituencies where voter turnout was highest, it was the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) that won the seats, however, in constituencies where voter turnout was lowest, it was the PTI that won. It should be remembered here that the PPP is an old Karachi heavyweight which has enjoyed much support in the city for years, whereas PTI was still the new kid on the block on July 25. Secondly, dumped ballot papers marked with votes for the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, PPP and Muttahida Qaumi Movement have been found at numerous sites. Still, there hasn’t been a single discovery of dumped ballot papers marked with votes for the PTI. All of this is very strange and the relevant authorities must get to the bottom of how and why this happened. IMAN NIAZI Karachi Published in Daily Times, August 7th 2018.
