Paying glowing tributes to the Police Department’s martyrs, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said on Saturday that many brave officials of the department had laid their lives to ensure a peaceful environment in the country. He said that the role of the officials of the department would be remembered in history for maintaining law and order, tranquility and eradicating the menace of terrorism. In a statement issued on the occasion of the Martyrs Day, Bilawal said that the peace that had now prevailed in streets of the coastal city was owed to the sacrifices of the police’s martyrs. The PPP chairman said that the nation owed its prosperity to the martyrs and vowed that he and his party’s government would never leave the families of the martyred officials without support. “The Police Department has immense contributions for maintaining law and order and fighting terrorism. They deserve due appreciation and applause,” he said, adding that whenever PPP had been in power in the country, it greatly encouraged and facilitated the police force. The previous government of the PPP had raised the amount of compensation given to the aggrieved families, Bilawal noted. He said that the next government of the PPP would continue working for modernising the police force. Published in Daily Times, August 5th 2018.
