Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rasheed has predicted that a ‘forward bloc’ would emerge in the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the former ruling party would eventually ‘implode’. Speaking to reporters outside the Bani Gala residence of prime minister-in-waiting Imran Khan on Friday, the AML chief claimed that several PML-N leaders – including former finance minister Ishaq Dar – would become ‘approvers’ against the Sharif family and testify against them in corruption references. Rasheed, who is also a close confidante of Imran Khan, dismissed rumours about defections and fragmentation in the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Punjab, where the PML-N is also engaged in wheeling and dealing in an effort to form its government in the province. The AML chief claimed that the PTI would unveil a coalition government in Punjab by Monday. “I know the names of the proposed chief minister and cabinet members, but I would not disclose them here because Imran Khan has asked me to keep them to myself.” Published in Daily Times, August 4th 2018.
