ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has directed party’s office bearers to submit all pre-poll, polling day and post-poll election complaints to the PPP’s Central Election Cell. He issued the instructions during a meeting with PPP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) President Humayun Khan, Azam Afridi and Syed Muhammad Ali Shah at Zardari House Islamabad on Thursday. Bilawal said that the PPP had rejected election results. He said that PPP was committed to democracy and had offered sacrifices for it. He appreciated PPP workers and said that no party could claim to have such dedicated and loyal workers. Meanwhile, PPP Islamabad president Iftikhar Shahzada also called on the PPP chairman and presented a report regarding elections and organisational issues. Jamil Ahmed Soomro, Senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar and Junaid Ahmed were also present in the meetings. Separately, Senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar , spokesman for Bilawal, Thursday expressed concern over the questions raised on the failure of the Result Transmission System (RTS). He said that the PPP candidates kept on stressing and repeating the fact that their polling agents were forced out from the polling stations at the time of the counting of votes. “Those who managed to enter were too pushed out.” “Moreover, Form 45 from Bilawal Bhutto’s constituency in Lyari was received eight days later while that from Malakand was yet to be received.” Nawaz Khokhar said that it was ECP’s responsibility to carry out free, fair and impartial elections but it failed to do so. He said that PPP was a pro-democratic party but that did not mean that it won’t speak up when its votes had been snatched from right under the ECP’s nose. Published in Daily Times, August 3rd 2018.
