Sindh caretaker Minister for Irrigation Mushtaq Ahmed Shah directed the Rural Development chief engineer to pick up the pace on ongoing development projects and finish them in stipulated time. While presiding over a meeting in his office on Tuesday, Sindh Irrigation Minister Mushtaq Ahmed Shah remarked that Rural Development Department’s ongoing development work was satisfactory. He further informed the media that work was being done on 64 different developmental schemes out of which 63 schemes were old while one was new. He revealed that the total cost of these 64 schemes was Rs3533.96 million (mn). During the briefing, Mushtaq Ahmed Shah informed the meeting that out of the Rs7125.4 mn that had been set aside for 63 old development schemes, Rs20133.97 mn had already spent. He further informed the meeting that Rs1500 mn had been allocated for a new development scheme and a total of Rs. 749.92 mn had been spent out of these funds. Caretaker Irrigation minister also informed the gathering that out of the 64 schemes underway, 49 schemes were focused on the communication sector, 4 on water sector, 8 in sanitation sector, and 2 schemes were centered around housing and community amenities. Concluding the meeting, Mushtaq Ahmed Shah asked the Rural Development Chief Engineer Athar Qureshi to speed up the ongoing development work and complete development schemes in stipulated time so masses could be provided with relief.
