Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was shifted back to Adiala Jail after his condition reportedly “improved” at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) on Tuesday. Doctors said that Nawaz Sharif’s health was improving. Sources said that the former premier was shifted to the prison as per his own wish. A three-member medical team conducted all tests and monitored Nawaz’s blood-pressure, sugar level and heart beat. He was also advised echocardiogram and ultrasound tests in coming days. PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Nawaz said that the former prime minister was shifted back to the prison as per his own wish despite health “complications”. She said that the PML-N was concerned over “poor” health of Nawaz. The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo was hospitalised on Sunday on the orders of the caretaker government after he complained of chest pain. A notification issued later declared the medical facility’s cardiac ward a ‘sub-jail’. A medical team, which examined Nawaz on Sunday before he was shifted to the hospital, said that the former premier was adamant to stay in jail. “Nawaz constantly refused to be shifted to a hospital and Maryam was specially called to convince him,” the doctors had said during an informal talk with media men. “Upon Maryam’s insistence, he agreed to be shifted to a hospital,” they had said.
