City School becomes the first school in Pakistan to introduce Chinese language for both children and adults by opening a Chinese Language Programme on Tuesday. According to a statement by The City School, understanding the need to develop globally aware citizens and to provide future opportunities to students and society, The City School is introducing Chinese classes at DHA and Shalimar Campus, in the month of August, 2018. The Mandarin classes are being offered as an after school activity for Class 3 – A Level students of TCS and outside TCS. In the evening the same campuses will conduct Mandarin classes for the parents, teachers and business community. Recognising the emerging need for incorporating Chinese language, The City School wishes to be a step ahead to inculcate skill sets not only within their students but also for students of other schools, the parents and business professionals. Trained and qualified instructors from China have been hired to teach Mandarin, the instructors would not only focus on only teaching the language but also create awareness about the Chinese culture. China-Pakistan relationship was formed in 1950 and has now become even stronger with the development of the Pak-China Economic Corridor. With this project, Beijing aims to expand its influence in Pakistan and across Central and South Asia thus providing career opportunities in Pakistan. The future of Chinese language is so bright that it is going to be considered as the second official language of Pakistan and given our geographical strategic location as neighbours, Pakistanis can benefit the most from it, be it learning a new language, be it helping out in their businesses, it would widen the horizons of the ones interested in learning and growing. The City School is the official testing centre for Hanban in Pakistan, which shows that The City School focuses to provide only the best education. Published in Daily Times, August 1st 2018.
