“Iam proud to say that the election was conducted in a peaceful manner,” said CM Fazal-ur-Rehman while presiding over a high-level meeting later on Monday. During the meeting, CM Fazal-ur-Rehman appreciated the role of all the concerned institutions in ensuring that last Wednesday’s elections commenced in a peaceful manner. The CM said that conducting the general elections 2018 was a gigantic task but he managed to accomplish it owing to the help of his cabinet members and his team. He added that the chief secretary, Rangers, Police, intelligence agencies, senior members of Board of Revenue and their teams worked day and night to make a peaceful election possible. Chief Secretary Major (retd) Azam Suleman told the meeting that the transportation of over 70,000 polling staff and meeting their requirements such as furniture, technical support and other facilities was a big challenge. “Had we not worked as a team it would have not been possible,” he added. Major (retd) Azam Suleman while lauding the leadership of the caretaker chief minister said that CM Fazal-ur-Rehman owing to his expertise as a seasoned bureaucrat understood each and every issue and extended his full support to the government machinery during the elections. “We did it within a month which is a record,” expressed the chief secretary. Rangers Director General Major General Mohammad Saeed praised his team for their support and informed the meeting that while making election arrangements, he was in close coordination with the Chief Secretary, IG Police and intelligence agencies. “Everything went well on the election day and the credit goes to everyone sitting here and their respective teams,” he added. Sindh IG Police Amjad Javed Saleemi also talked about the coordinated efforts of everyone and appreciated the intelligence agencies for their support. “I am thankful to my force and the intelligence agencies who kept us well informed about the potential threats well in time,” he said. The cabinet members also thanked the CM for his guidance and leadership. On this, CM Fazal-ur-Rehman remarked that as the caretaker chief executive of the province, he and his team played a neutral role. The meeting was also attended by Principal Secretary to CM, additional IG Karachi, all the concerned provincial secretaries, all divisional commissioners, DIGs and provincial heads of intelligence agencies.
