Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Manzoor Wassan predicted that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government to be formed shortly will hardly complete two and half years. In a statement issued on Sunday, Manzoor Wassan predicted that the new PTI government would continue to be blackmailed by different political parties during its entire tenure. Manzoor Wassan said that Imran Khan’s government would have to face severe hardships as opposition would be strong and sit-ins would be held against it. The PPP leader said that there was a possibility of dialogues with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) to nominate party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari as the leader of opposition. Lambasting the anti-PPP Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA), the PPP leader said that it was a party that was based on hooliganism and the people of Sindh exacted their revenge by simply rejecting it in the elections. Manzoor Wassan alleged that Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) used to win the election by stamping ballot papers in its office but this time the nation institutions put an end to the practice due to which it adversely failed in the general election 2018. However, the PPP leader claimed that the Returning Officers (ROs) ill-treated some candidates contesting the general election. When asked about who the chief minister would be, Manzoor Wassan said that the party had not finalized its recommendation for the post. “The party leadership will decide it,” he added. Former PPP minister, Manzoor Wassan was disqualified from the electoral race on June 27 owing to the intervention of an appellate tribunal which had taken action on an appeal filed by Shahnawaz Talpur, a member of Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA). The appeal pertained to Wassan’s iqama (work permit). The PPP member was planning on contesting from PS-27 in Khairpur. Published in Daily Times, July 30th 2018.
