Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair stepped down from his post on Saturday. “I have served the position as per my constitutional obligations,” he told a private TV channel, adding that he sent his resignation to President Mamnoon Hussain earlier in the day. Muhammad Zubair, who is also brother of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Asad Umar, was appointed as 32nd governor of Sindh by the PML-N government in January 2017. Zubair, who belongs to the PML-N, served as chairman of the Privatisation Commission of Pakistan from 2013 to 2017. He was appointed governor in 2017 after the death of his predecessor Saeeduz Zaman Siddiqui who passed away on January 11, 2017. As per constitution, President Mamnoon Hussain will nominate a new provincial governor. Published in Daily Times, July 29th 2018.
