Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Thursday rejected election results and announced to contact political parties to form a national consensus and get the polls null and void. Speaking at a press conference, Rehman said that the outcome of the polls does not reflect the will of the people. “It appears that the returning officers, presiding officer, DROs had no powers. The results were not issued and now are being provided steadily,” he said. The MMA leader said that a joint course of action will be decided in the All Parties Conference scheduled for Friday (today). “It’s not easy to impose a mandate,” he said, taking a jibe at the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan. Referring to Khan’s address on Thursday, Rehman said he had heard such addresses several times and was not impressed at all. He said that PTI chairman’s assurance to conduct inquiry on rigging allegations in some constituencies was not enough. “We are not talking about any particular constituency. We want to declare the entire election null and void.” Published in Daily Times, July 27th 2018.
