Sindh Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shahid Hamid denied allegations that independent candidate Jibran Nasir’s election camps had been vandalized by Tehreek-e-Labaik (TLP) supporters. Early on Wednesday morning, Jibran Nasir had taken to Twitter to claim that five of his election camps in Delhi colony, Chandio village, Defence and Hijrat colony had been torn down by Tehreek-e-Labbaik (TLP) supporters. “Banners torn down by TLP members in Delhi colony. In the first 3 hours since polling began this is the 5th camp which has been vandalized. Earlier camps near Chandio Village, Gold Mark Mall, Phase 4 and Zaheen Academy were vandalized by TLP,” tweeted the independent candidate along with a brief video showing ripped banners. Shahid Hamid said that the candidates claims were investigated by area Station House Officers (SHOs) and no such incident had occurred in Jibran’s camps. “In three places Jibran Nasir’s camps were empty due to the absence of volunteers and two of the places, Chandio village and Delhi colony, were untouched,” said SSP Hamid. “The police are there for the security of all citizens and today’s events in Quetta underline how serious the security threat is. It is requested that candidates refrain from making false claims as precious resources are diverted into investigating such frivolous claims,” added Shahid Hamid.
