HYDERABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Saturday said he was taking part in politics for people’s rights not for himself. Addressing a public gathering in Nagarparkar, the hilly town of Tharparkar district, he urged the people of the desert region to vote for PPP candidates in Thar for their ‘better and safe future’, as according to him, the party would change the fate of Tharis. Bilawal said that despite the threats and obstructions he visited various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Punjab and got huge response from the lovers of his grand father late Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. “I am not fond of getting power by hook or by crook, I am struggling for the rights of the people by taking part in politics,” said the PPP chairman. Bilawal said that nobody would be allowed to amend the constitution to deprive the deserving women of getting the stipends under Benazir Bhutto Income Support Programme (BISP). “Those conspiring to deprive the women of their stipends will have to face the stiff resistance from PPP members in the assemblies” he added. He warned that any move tinkering with constitutional clauses to deprive the poor women would be resisted. The PPP chairman said that his party had given a new manifesto, which contained the important points to bring the revolution in the country. He added PPP after coming into power would try to reduce poverty by providing the food cards and would launch the poverty reduction programme to provide food at the subsided rates. He went on to say that the construction of airport near Islamkot town was a great effort of the PPP government, which surely boasted the business and tourism in Thar. He lashed out at their opponents for ‘opening the doors of their party for ‘corrupt ones’ and ‘making alliances with the leaders of the proscribed organizations’. He warned that issue of water scarcity in the country can only be resolved through a consensus under the 1999 water accord among the federating units. Moreover, he asked the participants of the rally to reject anti-PPP Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) and vote for the PPP candidates on July 25.
