“Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is being pushed to the wall under a plan in order to expel the party from politics, but we are determined to remain in the arena of election process till the polling day” said PML-N’s Sindh chapter president Shah Muhammad Shah during a press conference on Friday. Shah Muhammad Shah told the media that the interim Sindh government had been creating hurdles for the party’s candidates to run their election drive smoothly. “Security agencies and other government institutions are trying to smear our election campaign by stopping us from conducting our election drive”, he added. “Party banners, flags, panaflex and posters are being removed and our workers and local party leaders are being constantly threatened,” he lamented. Shah Muhammad Shah also complimented the nerve control of all political parties under such conditions. During his press conference, Shah Muhammad Shah said that all democratic forces needed to shun differences among themselves and unite against the ‘undemocratic stratum’. Shah Muhammad Shah showed his cell phone to media personnel and told them that he had been receiving several threatening calls asking him to leave Nawaz Sharif and his party from unknown numbers. On the occasion, Pukhtunkhwa Mili Awami Party’s Sindh President, Nazir Jan announced his withdrawal from NA-249 in favour of Mian Shehbaz Sharif. The press conference was attended by Senator Saleem Zia and other party leaders. Published in Daily Times, July 21st 2018.
