Caretaker Minister for Transport and Mass Transit Authority (TMTA) Col (retd) Dost Muhammad Chandio issued directives to convene a meeting of Karachi Public Transport Society (KPTS) at the earliest to evolve the regulation mechanism for private cabs including Uber, Careem and White Cab. Caretaker Minister Dost Muhammad Chandio talked to a three member delegation of KPTS on Friday. The delegation was led by KPTS administrator Shams Abro and other members included KPTS board of governor member advocate Nadeem and Consultant Justice Helpline consultant Major (retd) Imran. The delegation apprised Caretaker Minster regarding transport issues in Karachi and added that there was no regulation mechanism for private cabs which were charging citizens high fares. They said that the government has no data about the Uber, Careem and White Cab providing service at Karachi Airport. They said that the data of passengers, particularly female passengers, was being leaked through these services. The delegation suggested that a meeting of KPTS board of governors be called to evolve regulation mechanism for private companies running car service in metropolis. Caretaker Minister assured delegation that he will take all measures to ensure that the residents of Karachi had access to safe and secure transportation facility and issued directives to convene a meeting of KPTS.
