Ever since the announcement that DC will be working on the origin story of the iconic enemy of Batman known as The Joker, fans have been waiting for the release date and what the movie will be called. After officially confirming and signing on Joaquin Phoenix for the Joker origin film, Warner Bros. has given the film a title and a release date. The Joker origins movie, directed by ‘The Hangover’s’ Todd Phillips, and produced by Martin Scorsese will come to theaters on October 4 2019. As far as the title is concerned, they have decided to keep it simple and concise, going for the straightforward “Joker”. With a relatively modest budget of $55 million, the “Joker” will take a darker approach than the DC Extended Universe films centered around Justice League. According to Warner Bros, the movie is an “exploration of a man disregarded by society [that] is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale.” The film has been co-written by Phillips and 8 Mile scribe Scott Silver.
