A delegation of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI) led by its president Sheikh Amir Waheed visited Directorate General of Immigration & Passport to congratulate Amir Ali Ahmed on being appointed as passports director general. ICCI Vice President Nisar Mirza, Khalid Chaudhry, Sheraz Ahmed Siddiqui and Saifur Rahman were a part of the delegation. Addressing the delegation, Amir Ali Ahmed said that the business community was playing a key role in the economic development of the country and promoting exports. He assured that he would take measures to further streamline the procedure of issuance of passports to the private sector so that businessmen could be facilitated in exploring foreign markets for improving Pakistan’s trade and exports. Ahmed shared his vision with the ICCI delegation to further improve the working of the department. He said that after performing duties in Information & Communications Technology Administration and Capital Development Authority, he was fully cognisant of the major issues of business community and would play role in addressing their passport related issues on priority basis. He thanked the ICCI delegation for visiting his office to congratulate him and assured them that he would try to deliver up to their expectations. Speaking at the occasion, ICCI President Sheikh Amir Waheed congratulated Ahmed on his appointment as DG of Immigration & Passports and hoped that he would bring further improvements in the performance of the organisation. He said that businessmen have to often visit various countries for exploring business opportunities in order to further improve Pakistan’s trade and exports and hoped that under his leadership, the Passport Department would ensure timely issuance of passports to the business community. Both sides also discussed areas of joint collaboration so that with joint efforts, they could contribute towards promoting Pakistan’s business and economic interests.
