Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Maula Bux Chandio on Monday criticized the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership for using abusive language against its political opponents and asked the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to take action on the matter. In a statement, Maula Bux Chandio said that PTI chief Imran Khan and former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak had polluted politics with their indecent and inappropriate language. “Had Khattak done anything in the past five years he would have talked about that instead of hurling abuses at political rivals,” he said, in an apparent reference to a video showing PTI leader Pervez Khattak hurling abuses against PPP. The video went viral on social media. Lambasting ECP, the PPP leader said that the election body, by not taking action against abusive language during rallies, had become partial. The PPP had also blamed PTI earlier for using derogatory language against political opponents. In March, PPP leader Khursheed Shah alleged that both PTI and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) engaged in defamatory politics. Published in Daily Times, July 17th 2018.
