Pakistan and Afghanistan on Monday agreed to work together to defeat the common enemies in order to establish peace and security in the region. In a telephonic conversation with caretaker Prime Minister Justice (r) Nasirul Mulk, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani condemned the recent terrorist attacks in Pakistan and expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of precious human lives. Mulk termed the attacks cowardly acts of the enemies as well as an attempt to derail the democratic process in the country. He stressed that the caretaker government will ensure that elections are held on time. “Such actions will not deter our resolve,” he asserted. President Ghani also telephoned Army Chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa and assured him of ‘enhanced border security measures’ on Afghan side to assist Pakistan’s law enforcement and security forces during the time of elections. According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor, the Afghan president called the army chief to condole the loss of lives in recent terror incidents in Pakistan.
