HYDERABAD: Over 419 graduates and 124 post graduates were awarded degrees at the 16th convocation of Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS) Jamshoro on Saturday. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah while addressing the convocation said, “Induction of students in the noble profession is not merely an entry to noble profession but it is a marvelous achievement for which all of students had been dreaming since the years. I hope onwards from now this batch of graduates will prove their worth with commitment and accepting future challenges”. The Vice Chancellor LUMHS Prof. Noshad A. Shaikh expressed that the graduation ceremony is the most significant and meaningful occasion in the university’s calendar. And the good news is that out of 419 graduates there are 327 female graduates passing out in 2017 including 210 MBBS graduates, 54 BDS graduates and 63 post graduates. This indicates that our institute is producing a significant number of young female doctors and therefore empowering our daughters equally in the arena of education. Prof Noshad informed that Bilawal Medical College is ready to commence it MBBS degree program for 100 male graduate doctors each year. This college standardizes high levels of teaching facility. It caters to all requirements to be recognized as a medical college under Pakistan Medical and Dental Council. He further said that Community Health FM Radio Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences has been tuned into the frequency of 96.6 to mark its continuous and sustainable public awareness campaign first time in the history of Sindh. In addition, it will provide a platform to our public health specialists, social scientists and researchers to educate our society about general health issues and their social wellbeing as well as preventive measures.
