Justice (r) Nasira Javed Iqbal made it very clear to the audience, that she will not play with ‘Iqbaliyat’ like mullahs play with Islam. She was addressing the participants of the 12th sitting of Gosha-e-Gayan, held at Alhamra Arts Council on Thursday. In her address, she shared her views and thoughts circling her life and career. But the main focus of her talk was human rights. She threw light on the doctrines of Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Muhammad Iqbal several times with the purpose to educate the audience. She told the audience that “our leaders should be like our first prime minister Liaquat Ali Khan”, saying our leaders should follow his footsteps. Furthermore, she appreciated the idea of Gosha-e-Gayan and other Lahore Arts Council’s cultural activities for the promotion of arts and culture, adding that Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah always warned us about nepotism but unfortunately we can see it everywhere nowadays. She quoted him with his sayings, “You have to stand guard over the development and maintenance of Islamic democracy, Islamic social justice and the equality of manhood in your own native soil.” The audience admired her opinion on the topics of human rights and democracy. People from different walks of life attended the session. At the end, Alhamra Executive Director Captain (r) Atta Muhammad thanked Justice Nasira Javed and said that this is our pride that today we have a lady like her who was one of the first five female lawyers in Pakistan to be elevated as High Court Judges.
