Sir: The quality of food that is being served is going down day by day and there is no check on the restaurants. Even though many of the people I know only frequent very expensive eateries, we find that the menus have nothing real to offer and look the same one place to another. In addition to this lack of diversity in the food that is on offer, we are also facing the pricing problem. Everything is expensive, and most things are not worth the money being charged for them. Right now it is summer and I am literally afraid of ordering sea food because I have no idea how long people have kept it in their freezer. The other day I ended up paying Rs. 500 for a three-egg breakfast. And what I was served in the end was worse than what my mother cooks for me when she’s in a bad mood. Not to mention that each time I eat out I return with a stomach ache and some viral or the other. Is this what we are paying these restaurants for? Where are the regulations? There is also the increasing debate about meat products. People are realising that it doesn’t matter if you are eating chicken, mutton or beef; the stuff they feed the animals is going to kill us. When will we stop putting up with this? When will we fight back against this situation? When the Punjab Food Authority went after eateries people instead started to attack it for going after someone’s “rozi roti”. If this situation does not improve in the near future, I fear that we will all end up with significant health problems and wallets that have been emptied over garbage food.
