The dollar ended slightly higher in the interbank market due to demand by corporate sector for payments abroad. The greenback gained 05 paisas to close at Rs 121.45 for buying and Rs 121.65 for selling. The difference of the dollar rates between the interbank and kerb markets increased by Rs 2.15 from Rs 2 a day earlier. Dollar could not rise sharply despite demand from the corporate sector, as State Bank of Pakistan paid oil import bill. The magnitude of the payment could not be ascertained. The euro remained firm to close at Rs 141.97 for buying and Rs 142.17 for selling. It gained 36 paisas. The pound sterling gained 39 paisas to close at Rs 160.39 and Rs 160.59 for buying and selling respectively. Kerb Market: The dollar ended higher in the open currency market owing to its demand from buyers sending money abroad. The dollar closed at Rs 124.70 for buying and Rs 124.90 for selling. The pound sterling closed at Rs 163.50 for buying and Rs 163.70 for selling, it gained 50 paisas against the rupee. The euro closed at Rs 144.50 for buying and Rs 144.70 for selling.
