BAHAWALPUR: “All arrangements have been made for upcoming general elections to be held on 25 July in Bahawalpur division and Punjab Government is committed to organize transparent elections in the region,” said Bahawalpur Division Commisioner Nayyar Iqbal on Thursday while addressing a news conference. Nayyar Iqbal told the media that 4,321 polling stations had been established for 5,856,853 voters in Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan districts of Bahawalpur division. Nayyar Iqbal said that 224 polling stations had been declared sensitive. He added that CCTV cameras will be installed at sensitive polling stations. Commissioner told the gathering that 979 polling stations will be established for male voters and 947 polling stations will be established for female voters while 2,400 polling stations will be combined. The commissioner said that 150 candidates will contest for 15 National Assembly seats and 366 candidates will fight for 31 Provincial Assembly seats in Bahawalpur division. He said that 44,681 government officers will perform their duties during the upcoming elections. During his briefing, Bahawalpur Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ayub Khan said that the display of arms and billboards larger than size had been banned during election campaign by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
