Former interior minister and senior politician Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has said that he is straightforward forward person who speaks simple and don’t want to expose many issues. Talking to media persons in Taxila , Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said that he would expose differences with PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif after the verdict in Avenfield reference, which is likely to be announced tomorrow (Friday). He said that he had advised Nawaz to avoid increasing problems in the larger interest of the party. The former minister said that no legislation in the country was passed in which he had not supported Nawaz. “Besides myself, I convinced 35 other members to elect Nawaz as the PML-N president.” Also the former minister, who is contesting the upcoming elections as an independent candidate, on Wednesday disassociated himself from other independent candidates in Punjab who had decided to contest the polls on the ‘jeep’ symbol. A day earlier, Maryam Nawaz had alleged that “the symbol of jeep is becoming the symbol of khalayi makhlooq” ? a reference to the ‘invisible forces’ that Nawaz Sharif had blamed for his ouster. “As Mian sahab had said, it should be found out how people are being forcefully brought off from the lion symbol and being made to climb the jeep,” Maryam had tweeted, adding that that every vote for the jeep is a vote for “aliens”. Nisar dismissed the impression that the ‘jeep’ had been imposed on him, or that he had asked the other candidates to apply for the symbol. He said that his application for the symbol was submitted just an hour before the end of the deadline to avoid opponents applying for similar symbols which could confuse his voters. “Those [others] contesting on the jeep symbol should be questioned about it,” he said. The former minister went on to say that governance in Pakistan was a difficult task and a lot needed to be done to put the country on the road to development. Speaking about the Mumbai attacks, Nisar said that proceedings into the case were delayed due to uncooperative attitude of India. Published in Daily Times, July 5th 2018.
