GUJRANWALA: The regional police officer (RPO) Zulfiqar Hameed on Tuesday vowed that the police department would ensure security, peace and tranquility for conducting free, fair and peaceful elections in the district. While addressing police officers, he said that a foolproof security plan has already been devised and the code of conduct issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) would be fully implemented. “Violators of law would not be tolerated,” he said while adding that no one would be allowed to exhibit firearms during election campaign. He asserted that police officers would provide security to all political gatherings and the organisers of public gatherings should get prior approval from the district management. Anti-corruption arrests two suspects for land fraud The anti-corruption department on Tuesday arrested two suspects for allegedly preparing a bogus land deed to transfer its ownership. Reportedly, Shamim lodged an application accusing her ex-husband Anwar Khan and his accomplice Ameen Khan of occupying her two plots of land in DC colony after preparing a bogus land deed with a forged stamp paper. After investigation into the matter, the anti-corruption department arrested both of them. Man murdered over property dispute A man was gunned down on late Monday over land dispute in the vicinity of Wahndo police station in Gujranwala. Reportedly, Maqsood Ahmed had property dispute with Ghazanfar. Consequently, Ghazanfar along with his accomplices including Raheel and Adeel opened fire on him when he was returning back home after offering prayer in a mosque.
