National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal on Monday sought verification of complaints of alleged corruption, increase in estimated cost of the project and delay in completion of the Trans-Peshawar Rapid Transport System (BRT). The NAB chairman has ordered the NAB director general to probe why the estimated cost of the project had increased to Rs64 billion from initial estimates of Rs49.36 billion. He expressed shock at the excessive delay in the completion of the project and directed the officials concerned to find out exact reasons for the upward revision of cost estimates. The NAB chairman said that the accountability watchdog would continue playing its role in ensuring judicious use of public money and elimination of corruption as per law.
